Betsy first came to Alaska in 1993 and immediately fell in love with the land and its people.  She is honored to be of service and is committed to the Alaskan community.  She is a graduate of the University of Washington Medical Department’s MEDEX physician assistant program.  And she graduated with honors from the UNMC Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies.   Betsy also serves on the board of the Alaska Association of Physician Assistants. 

She believes in patient centered treatment that approaches one as a whole including mind, body and spirit.  She spent nine years working in home healthcare with people who are quadriplegic and is devoted to helping those who need it most through primary care.  She has a background in film and theatre and has done outreach work through programs in the Anchorage community at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, McLaughlin Youth Center and schools throughout ASD.  Betsy began practicing yoga in 1990 and became a certified instructor in India in 2004.  Her experiences have led to a firm belief in practicing medicine with compassion. She enjoys hiking, camping, cross country skiing, traveling and exploring the outdoors with her family.  She practices family medicine, women’s health, occupational medicine, sports exams and is a nationally certified CDL examiner.
